Thank you all for the 2K of pageviews, and from all over the world, too! Maybe this "internet" thing is catching on?
Finally finishing off the last DVDs of the original Armored Trooper V.O.T.O.M.S. TV series which aired in 1983 & 1984. Watched it years ago on VHS, felt it was time to view it again. It’s a touching, timeless romance/real mecha show: boy finds enhanced super-warrior girl during a galactic war, boy looses enhanced super-warrior girl to a secret society, boy pursues enhanced super-warrior girl through various warzones… You get the idea. *sniff* There's something in my eye.
Most projects are on hold until after COLD WARS, where I’ll be running two games of Giant Stompy Robot Gladiators using Meka Tac – Giant Stompy Robots Edition: F-270 on Friday at 10:00 AM, and S-271 on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
Managed to play a game of One Page Fleets using the ship cards last weekend and it worked as expected, provided everyone is familiar with polyhedral dice. The step down/up by die type mechanic can be a bit confusing to the uninitiated. May get another game in on Tuesday.
The “generic dungeon crawl with miniatures” game is in stasis, though its mechanics may surface in another medium.
Sunder the Stars will be given a test drive after the convention to see if it works the way it was intended. If so, it may branch out to other types of warfare.
Still painting, just nothing new finished.
That’s about it for now. Thanks for stopping by!

What a Beautiful Day!
Took advantage of the fantastic conditions today and completed 6 more Wedgians - 5 Destroyers and a Fleet Carrier. At first the carrier looked a bit silly, but after painting it, I grew rather enamored of it. Details may be found here.

Confederation Cards for OPF!
Here's another finished fleet sample sheet!
Yeah, I just made 'em blue because the other one looked better in red. Got a couple others planned, but need to get a few games in to see if the effort is warranted.

Wedgian Cards for OPF!
Yet another fleet sample sheet done!
And, yes, all the same ship types share identical stats. Like I said: introductory game. Don't worry; SUNDER THE STARS is still on its way.

ONE PAGE FLEETS!
While waiting for some feedback on the basic rules for SUNDER THE STARS, I stumbled across The Redoubt, the blog of Michael Wikan. Not only is there some fleet scale and 15mm science fiction eye-candy, there’s a little set of rules called One Page Fleets. A simple, straight forward spacefleet miniature combat game. With a bit of tinkering, I think it would make an inexpensive introductory card-based game for spacefleet battles. The cards would not only have all the ships’ stats, but also act as the miniatures. Yes, the cards would be maneuvered around the table. Not that far removed from “paper” miniatures. Give it a look!
Oh, here’s some tinkering:

SUNDER THE STARS: Sample Ship Cards
Left-click on image for full-sized view.
At the top of the image is a blank ship card which will print in gray-scale on a blank 4" x 6" index card. Why waste the color ink.
The next one down is a frigate: a small ship with only one damage track. Once it takes 2 points of damage, it is considered destroyed and removed from the game. As its life expectancy is so short, its systems do not degrade.
Next is a light cruiser: a medium-sized ship with two damage tracks. It battles at full strength until it takes its second point of damage, then it uses the second track for its Move Points, Shield Value, Point Defense and all it's weapons. See how the values have dropped? At 4 points of damage, it is considered destroyed and removed from play.
Finally, there is the MegaCarrier: a large ship with three damage tracks. This ship card demonstrates the loss of Fighter Bays (in this case with 6 bombers and 6 interceptors) as the ship takes damage. Upon the sixth point of damage sustained, the ship is considered destroyed and removed from play.
With these cards you can track the current status of ships of all the same type in your fleet. It wouldn't matter if you had fielded one or a dozen light cruisers, as long as you knew how much damage each one has taken - and a single counter or D6 next to the miniature takes care of that.
Playtesting shall (weather permitting) start soon.

SUNDER THE STARS counters 01
FREE STUFF!
Started working on some counters for folks who want to try SUNDER THE STARS - or any other spaceship combat game, for that matter - but do not have a couple fleets at the ready. It's okay. Ya gotta start somewhere. The counters are 3/4" square, though, as it's a .jpg, it may be scaled to whatever size you want. The funky backgrounds are for easy recognition of ships grouped into squadrons. Just print it onto a sheet of card stock. There will be a second sheet of counters for fighters, carriers, mines, and other typical spaceship gaming items. There are plans for counter sets in 4 different colors. For private, non-commercial use only.
If you download it, please leave a short comment explaining what you will be using it for. Thanks!
